Iceland Winter Photography Workshop – SUMMARY
WHATS INCLUDED IN THIS PHOTOGRAPHY HOLIDAY?
HOLIDAY ITINERARY
Below is a typical itinerary, this may inevitably change due to weather conditions so we will ensure that each location is visited at the most suitable time and in the most optimum conditions.
DAY 1 – Reykjavik
Morning British Airways flight from Heathrow T5 to Keflavik Airport. Ashley will meet you as you leave the arrivals hall in Keflavik Airport. We will travel by minibus to Reykjavik and check into Hotel Klettur. During the afternoon we will explore Reykjavik with an optional whale watching trip in the bay (not included in the cost of the workshop).
DAY 2 – Reykjavik to Vik
After breakfast we check out of our accommodation and travel south stopping at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. We then make our way east towards Vik stopping at Dyrhólaey, a windswept peninsula with wonderful views of the coastline and lighthouse. Our final stop of the day is at Reynisfjara to capture the sunset on this black sand beach. After dinner at The Hotel Kria we will venture out to try and capture the Northern Lights as long as the weather conditions are suitable.
DAY 3 – Vik to Hof
Check out of our hotel and down to the black sand beach to capture sunrise with the Reynisdrangar sea stacks as a backdrop. When everyone is happy with their images we will start to make our way east towards Vik stopping on route to Vatnajökull National Park and the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in time for sunset. Check into The Foss Hotel Glacier Lagoon for two nights. After dinner back to the Lagoon to capture the Northern Lights as long as the weather conditions are suitable.
DAY 4- Vatnajökull National Park
Today we explore Diamond Ice Beach at sunrise with its icebergs and then move onto the southern end of the Vatnajökull glacier. You’ll have the chance to explore the lesser-known Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon, which is just as beautiful as its larger relation. We will spend the last part of the day back at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon for sunset. Returning to Foss Hotel Glacier Lagoon for dinner we will then venture out in search of the Northern Lights, weather permitting.
DAY 5 – We check out of our accommodation and make our back to Vik stopping at various sites on way including another black sand beach with the wreck on an old DC9 aircraft. Check in to the Hotel Kria again and venture out for our last opportunity to capture the Northern Lights, weather permitting.
DAY 6 – Vik to Reykjavik via the Golden Circle Road
Today we travel back towards Reykjavik via part of the famous Golden Circle route stopping at various locations including the amazing Geyser. Return to Reykjavik in the early evening and check into The Hotel Klettur for our last night in Iceland.
DAY 7 – Departure Day
Check out of our accommodation and make our way back to Keflavik Airport for our late morning flight back to Heathrow.
As mentioned above our itinerary must remain flexible and Imber Court Photo Training will do their absolute best to ensure that all locations are visited in the best conditions. We must point out that there is no guarantee of seeing the Northern Lights, Ashley will do his utmost to facilitate this but if there is cloud cover at night its impossible to see them.
