As some of you are aware I have spent the last couple of months researching the possibility of Imber Court Photo Training running a photographic safari holiday to Africa. I have had numerous meetings and correspondence with various companies and I now have a much better understanding of how things work out in the bush! For those of you that have come along on our other photography holidays you will understand that although photographic opportunities and training are at the forefront of all of the planning the comfort and security of our clients is also a major factor that we consider when planning these trips. I have learned that security in Africa is a major issue and also that there are many companies offering trips to National Parks where you are transported around for hours on end in a minibus and when you arrive at locations to take images there are twenty other vehicles surrounding you on all sides. Entry to the National Parks is also restricted to daylight hours and off road exploring is forbidden. This is not the type of trip that I would like to go on and I believe this to be the case for our clients.
After considering all the factors I have decided that Botswana is by far the best country to visit with its three main eco systems providing some of the best game viewing in the world along with some fantastic landscapes to photograph. I am using a company called Africa Exclusive who were highly recommended to me and have been operating trips to Botswana for twenty years. Following discussions they have agreed to arrange the trip for me in November 2019.
If this trip is of interest please let me know and I will arrange for a brochure containing all of the information to be sent to you.
The following is from Africa Exclusive who will look after all of the bookings on my behalf:
Botswana is one of the finest countries on the African continent for a photographic safari. Pristine wilderness, diverse eco-systems and vast expanses of unspoiled landscapes make for one of the most authentic and private safari experiences imaginable.
During your nine night safari you will explore, with Ashley, three contrasting regions of Botswana, from the palm fringed islands of the Okavango Delta to the vast open plains of the Linyanti and the semi-arid desert wilderness of the Kalahari. Spectacular scenery forms the backdrop for plentiful wildlife sightings and even some cultural photographic opportunities with the San Bushmen of the Kalahari for those who are interested.
Being a photographic safari, game drives will of course be a focus throughout the trip though there will be the option to intersperse this with a range of other game viewing activities such as walking safaris and even helicopter flights.
Throughout the itinerary your group of nine will enjoy game drives in three private vehicles. This will ensure that each of you will have ample space and flexibility to best cater to your photographic needs. Who sits where is flexible on each game drive so you can all interchange as you prefer to give everyone an equal amount of time with Ashley. You with also benefit from having an experienced local guide in every vehicle at each location who will know the terrain intimately and be aware of particular animals and their habits/favourite haunts etc. This is particularly important when photographing big cats who are territorial.
Each of the camps are luxurious yet authentic and the expert guides are very used to satisfying the needs of both keen amateur photographers and professional photographers. You will enjoy complete flexibility throughout your stay. The priority will always be the game viewing experience and the beautiful unknown of an African safari means each game drive will be different from the next. The camps schedule will fit around you with delicious meals prepared for your return to camp, whenever that may be.
This exclusive adventure through Botswana is designed for photographers of all abilities. Ashley will bring your safari to life through a lens. Not only will he provide you will unrivalled access to his extensive knowledge and advice throughout the trip but you will also have the opportunity to review and edit images with him each afternoon before heading out on another exciting game drive. Ashley’s photography training is an impeccable blend of professional photographic guidance and expertise with a friendly and approachable manner. No question is too small and you are sure to have improved your photography skills by the end of the trip.
Imber Court Photo Training will host a pre-departure meeting, the details of which will be determined nearer the time. This will be the perfect opportunity for each of you to meet face to face prior to arriving in Botswana and go through any final questions you may have.
